Dogs have unique characteristics that make them so well suited as our companions.

In many cases a rescued dog is no different from a pet that has been raised from the time it was a young puppy. Usually the dog was perceived as a "problem." The dog could have been abused through neglect due to the previous owner's lack of knowledge and understanding of normal dog behavior. A rescued dog needs rehabilitation immediately in a good training program to help overcome these problems or habits so that the problems will not persist.

New owners usually think they have to wait to create a bonding relationship with the dog before considering training. However, a new environment, new people, new smells and a new routine could, at the beginning of the adoption period, be a very traumatic transition. Obedience training actually will help enhance and escalate a better understanding and bonding between the rescued dog and its new owner.
