Pets on Wheels Volunteer
PETS ON WHEELS is a non-profit program designed to link volunteers and their pets with lonely nursing home residents and other socially isolated people.
PETS ON WHEELS provides a stimulating and rewarding program for residents who otherwise might be unresponsive.
PET THERAPY VOLUNTEERS:
*Visit weekly in a nursing home, assisted living facility, adult day care center, etc.
near their own home.
*Are matched with several older persons who have little contact with family or friends,
or who cannot participate in regular visiting and/or activities.
*Have a gentle, sociable, friendly pet which is certified healthy by a veterinarian
and passes a POW Temperament Evaluation.
*Are at ease with frail, older people, and disabled younger people.
ALLIE LEE is an Authorized Pet Temperament Evaluator as well as a Professional Obedience Instructor with over
years of training experience. Allie is well known in the surrounding area for his expertise and deep concern for animal owners and their pets. He is a Pet Screener for the PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY PETS ON WHEELS ORGANIZATION, conducting OVER FREE temperament tests for new dogs wanting to join the POW.
PETS ON WHEELS is a 501 (3)c non-profit organization.
